Life/work

I’ve spent my career working for nonprofits and in academia. My B.A. is in English Lit from the University of South Florida and I have an MA in Political Science from the University of Florida. I’m now once again at the the University of South Florida in Tampa working on a PhD in Politics and International Affairs

My background is eclectic. I’ve worked and traveled all over Latin America, did an internship with Habitat for Humanity in Costa Rica and Chile and lived and worked on an international multi-lingual team in Colombia 2003-2004.

I spent about ten years working in nonprofit communications in Washington DC, first for a national farmworkers’ rights group, then as Digital Communications Manager for a federal budget watchdog group. For many years I managed the website for the Washington Independent Review of Books. I write articles and op-eds on a variety of subjects, and do research on how authoritarian states use social media.

But if you really want to know who I am check out my Goodreads profile because you are what you read.
